Megan Wheatley started her hairstyling journey at West College Scotland studying an NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing back in August 2011. Initially a Saturday girl at a local salon, her passion for hairdressing led her to pursue a career in the field. Despite initial nervousness, Megan found herself embraced by the welcoming staff at the college, fostering an environment that allowed her to thrive. Adjusting to a diverse group of classmates from a range of age groups and backgrounds, she quickly formed long lasting friendships.

Megan said that the college not only equipped her with essential skills but also instilled the confidence to excel in the salon. Encouraged to be the best version of herself, Megan participated in hairdressing competitions in Blackpool, achieving notable success thanks to the guidance of her lecturer, Maureen. Graduating at the age of 19, Megan embarked on a summer adventure in Marbella, ultimately landing a position at the newly opened Golden Tarts salon in Puerto Banus. The clientele there, encompassing various nationalities and styles, provided Megan with invaluable experience and exposure in the media, working with clientele from popular shows like TOWIE and Love Island.

Returning to Glasgow, Megan ventured into entrepreneurship, opening a salon in Milngavie with a business partner. Over two years, she built a strong clientele and delved into the world of hair extensions. An opportunity via a connection she had made during her time in Spain led to a move to Dubai where she was able to establish a salon from scratch. What started as a single salon with seven staff six years ago has grown into a network of 11 salons with over 250 staff.

Despite the challenges, Megan's hard work and dedication have propelled the business forward. The salon, an all owned and run British female business, has become a cornerstone in Dubai's beauty industry. Megan's role extends beyond hairstyling; she manages salon operations while maintaining a full client schedule. Juggling long hours and multiple responsibilities, Megan embraces the demanding lifestyle, considering her move to Dubai the best decision for both herself and her flourishing career. Six years on, she continues to thrive, proving that passion, perseverance, and a touch of entrepreneurship can create a remarkable success story!
