Graduation 2024

West College Scotland’s Graduation Ceremonies are the most prestigious events in the College’s calendar, where successful students from Higher National programmes graduate. It is also an occasion where awards are presented to those who have excelled or overcome challenges in the achievement of their qualification. 

If you successfully complete your course, and are not returning to study at West College Scotland, you will be sent an e-invitation to Graduation in August.

This e-invitation will contain important information on:

  • What to expect on the day
  • Photography and Gowning information
  • Ticket Allocation

You will be able to RSVP via your e-invitation – so please make sure your contact details, in particular your email address is correct. You can update your details through the MyWest app tile 'Update my Info' or by clicking here.

(You will need your college email address and password to access. As a reminder your college email address is your StudentNumber@live.wcs.ac.uk and your password is the same as the one you’d use to log into Moodle or a campus PC.  By default, it’s your date of birth in the format of DDMMYYYY.)

This privacy statement relates to the following process:

Processing your personal data for the purposes of the virtual graduation ceremony, necessary this year due to the prevalence of COVID-19 and the associated restrictions on public events.

Your information will be used for the following purposes:

Your name, course and qualification gained will be published in the Newsquest Local Titles - Clydebank Post, Helensburgh Advertiser, Greenock Telegraph, Barrhead News, The Gazette - with your consent.

Our lawful basis for using the data is that you have given consent for the use. We will not publish your graduation details in the press, unless you agree to this.

The data being used does not include special category (sensitive) data.

If you were to withhold the personal information we require for this process, details of your graduation would not appear in the press, or in a graduation video; there would be no other consequences.  

Your data will be placed in the public domain, if you have given consent.

This process involves your data being sent outside of the European Union.

This is known as a restricted transfer. It means that your GDPR rights cannot be guaranteed in countries outside of the EEA, which may have different data protection laws, or none. As YouTube is available in many countries outside of the EEA, your data (name, course and qualification) may be accessed in any country which has access to YouTube. It is possible that your data may be downloaded and used in these countries, without your permission or knowledge. Your data is being published to offer students an ‘alternative’ graduation format, due to the circumstances of the current pandemic. Your ability to exercise your rights (as listed below) may be limited by this transfer.
