Jessica graduated with her HNC Beauty and is now working at Versari Beauty in Houston covering all aspects of beauty therapy. She said, “Since working in a salon I have found the treatments I love performing and would like to do more of these in the future. I am really passionate about all things nails, brows & lashes!

Speaking of how college prepared her for industry Jessica said,

“College is a great way to learn & become qualified instead of paying for private beauty courses. Practical work was the best part at college, I loved my aesthetics & nail class the most! Being a model for facials & massages was a nice perk too!”

Jessica chose to return to college after a career in industry which she said she found very daunting, leaving her job, returning to study as a 30 year old solo parent; “The support I received from the beauty lecturers was amazing, they were very understanding of my situation & could accommodate me with working from home on my laptop if childcare was disrupted. I’m so glad I pushed myself to return to college as a mature student & I didn’t feel out of place at all. It was the best decision I  have made & I have found a career I am happy in!”.

Jessica’s advice for someone considering coming to college is

“Its hard work & can become stressful but once completed you will have a great career ahead of you & feel proud of yourself for completing it successfully. It’s all worth it in the end!”

Having worked in a salon for 6 months she said she has learned a lot since leaving college, “My end goal is to become fully self employed offering all things I love!
