Overview

What will I learn?

You'll learn about:

• Care in Contemporary Society
• Leadership
• Health Well-being and Safeguarding
• Lifespan Development and Life Stages
• Care practice
• Loss, Grief and Bereavement

As part of this HNC you will complete SVQ L3 units x 3 in your care workplace and be supported by the college to do so:

• Promoting health, safety and security in the work setting
• Developing your practice through reflection and learning
• Promoting effective communication

What quailifications do I need?

To be considered for a place on this course applicants must currently be working in a social service setting for a minimum of 16- hours per week

Your employer must agree for you to be released one day per week to attend college for the 2-year course.

You will be asked to attend an interview and provide proof of your qualifications,PVG registration and satisfactory reference from employer.

What can I do after?

You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council to work in either residential childcare, adult care services or a variety of jobs in the care sector.

Or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

• A degree level course in Social Work or Nursing
• An Integrated Public Service Degree programme
• A degree level course in the Social Sciences, including Psychology

Duration: This course runs for 2 academic years however if you have SVQ level 3 you may complete the course in approx.18 months

Time: Every Tuesday during term time -9am-4pm
