Greenock Employability Adviser, Mhairi Powell was delighted to support one of our industry partners towards a big win at the Inverclyde Inspirational Award last month. The annual event held at Greenock’s Cruden Hall saw Xcite Activity Play Centre receive a top accolade for the Inspirational Community Organisation Award after Mhairi nominated them for their efforts to provide a positive and inclusive experience for those in the local community.

In her role as one of the College’s Employability Advisors, Mhairi has worked alongside Xcite for over a year where they have kindly provided work placements for several of our Learner Development students at the Greenock campus on Certificate of Work Readiness and Steps to Work programmes, ensuring that our students have a positive learning experience in a supportive working environment.

The Xcite Team have upskilled their own knowledge too, engaging in disability awareness training sessions and striving to promote inclusiveness to both their employees and their customers.

Mhairi said,

“Seeing first-hand how dedicated the team are to not only running a successful business but also prioritising the needs of the community led me to nominate them for the awards. I was delighted to go along and be part of their night especially as they won their category.”
