The College was absolutely delighted to welcome the Bay City Rollers onto the campus recently to officially open our ‘Studio by Moya’ space.

The Rollers joined 30 of our creative industry students and staff for support on the pre-release of their new upcoming album.

Over the course of the day the group was involved in photoshoots, videography, design briefs, interviews and podcasts– all coordinated by our students. These creative assets have all been packaged up so the Rollers can use them as and when they need them to promote their upcoming album.

Now in its 8th year MOYA – Minds of Young Artists – is a production company created and driven entirely by design students from our Paisley Campus. This revolutionary concept aimed at promoting and selling the students’ artwork– providing a means of implementing their learning, setting up business and earning money.

The Studio by Moya is a step further and focuses on commercial photography and media services which local businesses can tap into. It also acts as a space for Moya to operate from.

Billy Kinnear, CQL Creative Industries said:

‘This is the outcome of 8 years of MOYA (Minds of Young Artists); a student-led enterprise that is multi-award winning and growing from strength to strength. The new premises are absolutely superb, and it was amazing to be able to open the space with the Bay City Rollers and to show them what we could offer them in terms of creative support.’

Johnny McLaughlin, Bay City Rollers said:

‘It was an absolute pleasure working with the Creative students at Studio by MOYA; all of the students were very professional and created wonderful work. We are so happy to have made this connection with the MOYA students and we will definitely work with them again.’

If you’re interested in studying the Creative Industries and getting involved in real life briefs such as this, then courses open on Tuesday 16 January for August 2024.
