At our Paisley campus our NQ5 Hair and Make-up students have been putting their newly learned skills to the test to create spooky looks on each other for Halloween. After getting their best fancy dress on the students got to work fundraising by offering Halloween hairstyles and face paints in the College for a small donation. They raised a fabulous £463 over the two days to add to the overall fundraising pot started by Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer, Janise Maxwell earlier this year.

Janis organised WCS’s largest coffee morning yet in September where staff and students from across the college got involved hosting their own cake and cuppa catchups within their work and class rooms. Janis also organised a raffle with fantastic prizes to be one from hampers to hairdressing supplies! To date £3263.16 has been raised for MacMillan Cancer Support and rising! Well done Team WCS.

That wasn’t all our Makeup Artistry students were up to over the Halloween weekend with a group of students volunteering their skills at Paisley’s Halloween Festival painting the faces of the Creatures Cult Cast

.

Choregraphed by MHz, the Paisley Creatures Cult parade made up of local community dancers performed multiple times over Halloween weekend through Paisley’s town centre, dressed up as monsters, werewolfs and vampires as well as other spooky creatures.

NQ5 Hair and Makeup student, Michelle Duffy, 35 from Paisley said, “I enjoyed helping with the makeup and hair for both the main characters and the dancers – it was a great event.”

Modzelewska, 24 who is studying HNC Fashion Makeup said, “I was responsible for main cast and choir. It was so much fun, working with prosthetics, UV paints, and just letting your imagination go wild! Really nice time with amazing people!”
