West College Scotland were delighted to receive a top recognition at last night’s Herald Top Employer Awards.  The awards were announced at a ceremony held in Glasgow’s Doubletree Hilton Hotel on Wednesday 26th October. In its inaugural year, the prestigious awards celebrate the best of Scotland’s employment industry.

The College was recognised as one of Scotland’s “Top Employers” amongst many big players in both the public and private sectors. The accolade was awarded to our Digital Strategy team in the Best Use of Digital Technologies category where we fought off competition from AC Whyte, Fife College, Borders College and Allied Vehicles.

As we adopt a hybrid learning model, West College Scotland is committed to ensuring that our staff are equipped with the skills and resource to be able to work and learn digitally.

Promoting and supporting a “Digital First” mindset, our cross college Digital Strategy Group have implemented multiple initiatives to support digital inclusion, technological advancement and skills development.

From providing over 3000 digital devices across our College community to creating and collating a wealth of digital support & resource via our Virtual Hub, we have created a sustainable model of delivery to maintain the highest standard of digital education provision and last night this was recognised by the independent judging panel of industry experts.

Assistant Principal: Creativity and Skills and Lead of the Digital Strategy group, Angela Pignatelli said of the win,

“We are thrilled and humbled to have won the 'Best Use of Digital Technology' award at the inaugural Herald Top Employer Awards 2022. Bridging the digital poverty gap and supporting our students and staff on their digital journey remains a top priority for us at West College Scotland. To be recognised, cross sector, for the work of the Digital Strategy Group, and our commitment and positive impact in driving digital change, is an honour. A huge congratulations to all the other shortlisted organisations in this category who are producing excellent work also."
