Laura studied at the College for 3 years from NC level through to HND Hair graduating in 2016. She said, “I knew very quickly that I wanted to go into Film & Television during my time at Clydebank and my lecturer Sandra Aird was a massive support during my time at the campus pushing me to gain more experience and knowledge in the field I wanted to go in.” 

During her time at West College Scotland she built on her classroom learning by doing work experience in theatre and TV. She said this gave her the extra skills she needed to land a position as a Hair and Makeup Trainee straight out of college. 

“I have been very fortunate to work on some incredible productions such as Still Game (BBC) , Lovesick (Netflix) and The Personal History of David Copperfield (Film4).” 

Her most recent position has been working as a Personal Hair & Makeup Assistant to Personal Designer/Hair & Makeup Designer: Donald McInnes for projects including, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (BIFA WINNER FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP 2021) and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.  

She said “I’ve been with Donald McInnes for 4 years working as his assistant on projects that cover all aspects of hair, wigs, makeup and prosthetics for projects that I never thought I would get to work on.” 

“I really enjoyed my time at Clydebank and I know how much it helped me build my confidence giving me a great start as a hair and makeup trainee. This is a wonderful course to find what you are interested in before beginning your journey into the hair and makeup world.”
