Our Paisley Beauty department have organised a week long fundraising mission to help support local charity “Lisa’s Gift”. A full calendar of events was set up including bake sales, raffles, onsite massage, and our commercial salons offering advanced face and body treatments and gel polish treatments throughout the week with all class groups getting involved.

‘Lisa’s Gift’ is a charitable organisation which has been created in memory of Lisa Moran. Its principal purpose is to offer financial assistance to students attending Renfrewshire schools, who may require this support, to allow them to take part in the full range of school based and extra-curricular activities.

The charity was chosen as it is close to one of West College Scotland’s Beauty lecturers heart, Laura Cochrane who was friends with the family. Laura said,

"The charity was chosen firstly because it helps local schools in Renfrewshire, so it is great for the College to be able to give back to our local community. Also, my own friends and family have raised money through various charity events in the past for this worthwhile cause and I know how much it means to Carolyn and her family to have Lisa’s Gift charity known in our community.

"I would like to say a massive thank you to Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer, Caroline Cullen for pushing for this to go ahead, helping raise much needed funds for this local charity.”

An incredible £810.98 was raised across the week of activities and the department were delighted to present the cheque to Lisa’s mum Carolyn Moran this week who passed on her appreciation and kindness shown by everyone.

Head of Sector: Hair, Beauty and Make-up Artistry, Wendy Sheridan-Price said,

"I am extremely proud of our beauty students and staff involved in raising a great amount for such a worthy local cause. Well done to everyone involved"
