Staff and students from our Greenock campus have been helping staff of local organisation Amazon feel fabulous for the festive season all in aid of a fantastic cause.

Maureen Manley, Curriculum Quality Leader - Hairdressing, Beauty & Makeup Artistry and Paul Lynn, Curriculum Quality Leader- Construction in association with Amazon Internal Management organised a fundraising event in aid of local charity Inverclyde Foodbank.

This fabulous event saw the Amazon Associates being pampered with a range of Health & Wellbeing treatments from gel nails to gents barbering, all courtesy of the staff and students from Hairdressing, Beauty and Complementary Therapies at West College Scotland Greenock Campus.

The event took place on Tuesday 18th December at Amazon Fulfilment Centre, in Gourock. The total amount raised has still to be confirmed and they were also collecting donations to make food parcels for this worthy local cause at Christmas time. Maureen Manley said of the event,

“This was a very worthwhile event for a Charity close to the hearts of the people in our community.”

Emma Scott who is currently studying Hairdressing Level 6 said, “I thoroughly enjoyed today working with everyone and carrying out haircuts on the Gents at Amazon. I felt very confident working alongside my lecturers, this was a great experience!”

The established relationship with Amazon has derived from the recently launched Amazons Career Choices programme which is being delivered in partnership with Paul’s team. Amazon were delighted with the outcome of the event with Jamie Walker, Senior Operations Manager at Amazon commenting,
