Kara started out her Make Up journey working for Benefit Cosmetics, and it was from there she realised that she wanted to pursue Makeup Artistry as a long-term career.
She first applied to HNC Fashion Makeup at Clydebank College saying that she was “over the moon to be accepted as it was a very competitive course”. She progressed in her studies, completing both her HNC Fashion Makeup then her HND Makeup Artistry which says helped her “gain so much valuable technical experience.”
After graduation she started up her freelance Makeup Artistry business - working whenever she could, which then led on to many new clients, weddings and other opportunities. It was during a freelance job that Kara was approached by the Head of Makeup Artistry faculty at another local college and asked if she would be interested in applying for a lecturing role to pass her skills onto future students.
Now a successful Makeup Artistry Lecturer, Kara has been able to continue her studies during her teaching career where she has had the opportunity to carry out her Professional Development Award (PDA) in Teaching Practice and Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) Degree. She has been teaching alongside her freelance work since 2015 and she says “loving every minute of it!”
