WCS join the Energy Efficiency Training Network comprising of nine colleges to launch new training centres

On International Women in Engineering day (Wed 23 June), we are delighted to announce that we’re working on an exciting project funded by Skills Development Scotland in partnership with Forth Valley College and Equate Scotland to develop awareness, access and participation for young females to become involved in STEM activities and pathways

West College Scotland has partnered with XSite Braehead, Scotland’s leading entertainment destination on an exciting student photography exhibition. The exhibition is open now until 16th August.

Thanks to funding from the Savoy Educational Trust, West College Scotland Professional Cookery students are now able to get the most out of their practical learning from both college and home.

Twenty-nine-year-old Nathan McGonigal from Greenock has always had a passion for cooking and working as a Kitchen Porter at a local care home gave him a taste for the industry. Striving for more and with some encouragement from a friend he decided to follow his dream and apply to study Professional Cookery at West College Scotland. Going from strength to strength, Nathan has now secured his first Chef role at CalMac Ferries.

Thirty-four-year-old, Debbie Dawkins has made the transition from college to university with ease. After successfully completing her HND in Business at West College Scotland, Debbie was accepted on to year three at SRUC to study a degree in Rural Business Management. Having been awarded her college graduation class prize, Debbie has continued to excel, going on to scoop the prestigious 2021 Farmplanner Award.

The free exhibition and information event will see colleges from all over Scotland including West College Scotland, come together on one virtual platform to showcase their courses and share information about college life.

Two pupils from St Stephen’s High School are off to a flying start, as they are on course to successfully complete an NQ in Travel, Tour Guiding and Airport Operations at West College Scotland.

Two of our former students have taken the time during the latest restrictions to get their new business venture up and running, and plan to open a new photography studio on 1 May in Govan, Glasgow.
