David heard about the College whilst at school,and after attending a part time course on animation at West College Scotland he decided it was the place for him!
The campus was within easy reach of where David lived, and having been to the College before he felt comfortable given that he knew his way around. Due to his part-time course he had even met some of the lecturers before too.
David said, 'I would recommend WCS for anyone who is thinking of furthering their education. The staff are very friendly and helpful as well as them offering a wide range of courses to suit everyone.'
David found the lecturers very helpful and answered any questions regarding his course. He also found student services to be a great help. Our lecturers pride themselves on being approachable and supportive and our student services are widely regarded as one of the best around.
Having wanted to pursue a career in art since an early age David chose Graphic Design with Animation as the perfect course to combine his enjoyment of art and future career opportunities.
Although he found the course challenging, it was also enjoyable and allowed David to express his creativity:
“I feel as though most courses regardless of what you choose to study will have their difficulties from time to time. However, I enjoyed this course from start to finish as it allowed me to produce my work in as creative a way as possible.”
David found the opportunity to be creative whilst still achieving project outcomes one of the most enjoyable parts of the course and this motivated him to complete his work to the best of his ability.
“My advice would be to enjoy yourself and to not be afraid to ask questions as there are people there to help you. Enjoying what you do is the most important aspect to any course.”
If you are concerned about giving up work and income whilst you study David showed it is possible to study and work at the same time holding down a part time job whilst he completed his studies.
David is now planning on going to University after completing his studies and West College Scotland has provided him the opportunity to take his education further with no limit on where it might take him.
