What will I learn?

Higher Maths will build on previous mathematical experience in algebra, geometry and trigonometry as well introducing learners to calculus.

What qualifications do I need?

Learners would normally be expected to have attained the skills, knowledge and understanding required by National 5 Maths at grade A or B. Evidence of National 5 Maths or equivalent qualifications must be provided.

All applications must include a personal statement detailing why you want to study Maths and what Maths qualifications you currently hold. Please also provide details of any prior attempts towards this qualification even if unsuccessful.

What can I do after?

Higher Maths is an entry requirement for a variety of courses in further and higher education. It is of particular relevance to science, technology, engineering and accountancy.

Please note that many Post-Graduate courses for teaching will not require Higher Maths but accept National 5 Maths and National 5 Applications of Maths.

It is the responsibility of applicants to confirm entry requirements for their chosen courses before embarking on Higher Maths.
