Overview

What will I learn?

This programme is for candidates 17 years of age and above who wish to enter the electrical contracting business as an electrician.

It will prepare entrants for the industry via the lead industry body, the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust. Although the SECTT test will be part of the course, it would be an advantage if you have previously passed the SECTT aptitude test, which can be found here HERE.

  • Basic Electrical Systems and Protection
  • Introduction to Renewables
  • Basic Electrical Installation Skills
  • Maths for Engineering
  • Inspection and Testing
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Teach and Prep for ECS card and SECTT test

What qualifications do I need?

Two National 5's or equivalent including English and either Maths* or Physics

*Applications of Maths not accepted

What can I do after?

Successful entrants are expected to pursue a career as an Apprentice Electrician. The programme is designed to prepare students for both Domestic and Industrial sectors.
