What will I learn?
This course introduces you to the essential skills and knowledge needed for careers in cyber security, digital forensics and computer networking. It’s an ideal starting point if you’re interested in how systems are protected, how attacks happen and how networks are built and secured.
You'll learn about:
- Data Security – protecting systems, users and information from threats
- Digital Forensics – investigating security breaches and analysing digital evidence
- Ethical Hacking – understanding how attackers think and how to defend against them
- Python Programming – learning a versatile language used widely in cyber operations
- Secure Network Design – designing safe, resilient network environments
What qualifications do I need?
You’ll need three National 5 (SCQF Level 5) qualifications at Grade C/3 or above, including English and Numeracy.
If you don't have formal qualifications but can demonstrate enthusiasm and relevant computing knowledge, you are welcome to apply. Mature learners can also apply without formal qualifications.

After successfully completing this course, you can progress to a range of cyber and computing programmes, such as:
