Computing & Games

The Computing department at West College Scotland offers a broad and ambitious range of courses designed to prepare learners for progression, employment and the fast-moving digital economy. Our provision includes software development, networking, cyber security, computer games development, digital media, artificial intelligence and general computing.

We support learners from access and introductory level through to HNC and HND study, with clear progression routes that allow students to build confidence, develop practical skills and move on to apprenticeships, employment or degree-level study.

As a CyberFirst Member Institution, the department has strong links with national partners, schools and industry, particularly in cyber security and digital skills. These partnerships help ensure our courses are current, practical and aligned to the needs of employers.

Our games provision is a particular strength, with fully developed, industry-relevant courses that place learners at the cutting edge of games design and development. Through links with industry and organisations such as the Scottish Games Network, students gain insight into one of Scotland’s most dynamic creative technology sectors.

Across all areas, our focus is on developing technical knowledge, creativity, problem-solving, communication, teamwork and resilience, giving learners a strong foundation for future success.
