What will I learn?

This course is an ideal starting point if you want to begin a career in computing or simply build strong digital skills. No previous experience is required — we’ll start with the basics and help you grow in confidence as you learn how modern technology works.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to Using a PC – including Microsoft Office 365, file management and essential digital skills
  • Introduction to Digital – explore data security, online safety, information literacy and understanding networks
  • Computer Programming – learn the fundamentals of coding and problem solving
  • Computer Networking – discover how devices connect and communicate
  • Website Design – build simple but effective web pages and online content

What qualifications do I need?

You’ll need three National 5 (SCQF Level 5) qualifications at Grade C/3 or above, including English and Numeracy.

Mature students or those returning to education are welcome to apply without formal qualifications.

What can I do after?

After successfully completing this course, you’ll have the digital skills and confidence needed for a wide range of roles that require strong IT capability.
