West College Scotland’s Painting and Decorating department have been giving back in the local community this month in partnership with Paisley Crown Decorating Centre.

West College Scotland Greenock Campus Learner Development department finally got to perform their magical production of Aladdin after 2 years of rehearsing.

Last week saw former Graphic Design students, Sean Kelly and Cameron Hunter return to the College to speak to our newest cohort of design students about their journey from education to industry.

4 young apprentices are starting our their careers in Plumbing and Heating after progressing through their qualifications with our Plumbing and Heating departments. Dean Burns, Michael Holmes, Damain McDonald and Calum Power have all successfully secured apprenticeships following completion of the James Paterson & Sons Apprenticeship Academy at our Greenock Finnart Street campus last year.

West College Scotland staff were amongst the recent cohort of CMI Leadership and Management students to successfully achieve their Level 8 certificate.

It’s a double whammy for our Paisley Computing team this month, with Dr Amanda Ford being nominated for the Community Spirit Award at this year’s Scottish Games Award.

Greenock Employability Adviser, Mhairi Powell was delighted to support one of our industry partners towards a big win at the Inverclyde Inspirational Award last month. The annual event held at Greenock’s Cruden Hall saw Xcite Activity Play Centre receive a top accolade for the Inspirational Community Organisation Award after Mhairi nominated them for their efforts to provide a positive and inclusive experience for those in the local community.

West College Scotland, HNC Graphic Design students have teamed up with local Karate club JKS Clyde to design their new company logo.

Currently the only college in Scotland, and one of only 3 colleges in the UK to provide the training, West College is offering the ABBE Level 2 Certificate in Fire Sprinkler Installation covering Residential and Commercial sprinkler installation

West College Scotland’s Greenock Science department have participated in a pioneering outreach programme in collaboration with the Natural History Museum, Oxford Instruments, the Royal Microscopical Society and Hitachi High Technology USA.
