The qualifications were delivered by West College Scotland, marking a significant milestone for the individuals and the company.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) inspires individuals to become skilled, confident, and successful managers and leaders and are renowned for their strategic focus, providing a progressive framework that equips learners with the essential skills and knowledge needed for career advancement.

Jim McAllister, Head of Language, Business, and Leisure Industries at West College Scotland, remarked, “This partnership has been a great development experience for the College. It has been a coordinated effort from all involved, and I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of these programs.

While it may not have been easy all of the time, I trust it has been a reflective, developing, and enjoyable learning journey.

Paul Burgess, Chief Executive at Startline, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of investing in the future of their staff through leadership learning delivered by the College. He emphasised the role of a manager in developing, engaging, and bringing out the best in their team. Paul stated, “This initiative has been a tremendous success, and you are all the first to go through this process.

Congratulations to each of you. It’s a significant achievement that will have a lasting impact on your careers and our organisation.

Stephanie McKay, Credit Decisions Team Leader at Startline, shared her experience, saying, “I saw the CMI as a good opportunity to better myself and obtain a qualification that will help me progress in my career.

I’ve enjoyed the experience, even though it was challenging to juggle work, a busy home life, and study. It has been worth it.

Emma Reekie, HR Advisor at Startline, added,

I pursued the CMI for self-development and career progression, recognising the potential for growth at Startline.

'The challenge of balancing work and the commitment required for this qualification has been very rewarding. Although I’m not currently in a managerial role, the course has provided valuable insight into the responsibilities and perspectives of a manager. I’m keen to continue with the CMI and complete the Diploma.”

Susan Carton, Curriculum and Quality Leader at West College Scotland who delivered the course praised the dedication of the participants, saying, “Enrolling in the CMI course requires significant personal sacrifice, and I couldn't be more proud of this group from Startline for investing their time and energy into their futures. By enhancing your leadership skills, you are not only improving your own capabilities but also enriching your current roles.

In today’s challenging economic climate Startline's commitment to investing in their staff is hugely commendable. Well done to all of you for taking this important step towards personal and professional growth.
