HND Photography students snap up the chance to photograph some of the world’s top tennis players at the final group stages of the Davis Cup.

Held at the Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow the event welcomed world-class men singles and doubles players from across the globe including Scotland’s very own Andy Murray and two our Paisley campus HND Photography students were courtside capturing the action live.

Speaking to the students about their experience Ronan Donnachie, said, “This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. To be able to take photographs of top professional sports athletes, not to mention one of my sporting heroes Andy Murray is something I’ll never forget.

Everyone was very supportive and helpful, and it was a truly invaluable experience which I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to be part of.

Photography Lecturer Angie Isac, commented, “It’s been a great experience for the students to be able to cover 2 days of the Davis Cup and extra special that on one of the days Team GB were playing.  

‘For the past two yours, due to Covid restriction, covering sports has been a bit of a challenge, so it was amazing for them to secure the accreditation and gain first-hand insight into the world of sports photography at the top level.

They did a great job and produced some amazing images.

Student John Donnelly, said, “ It was a fantastic opportunity, not just to photograph some of the world’s best players, but to meet and sit alongside the professional photographers, such a great learning experience"
