With funding from ERDF Advancing Manufacturing Challenge Fund and Renfrewshire Council, the college will offer a suite of courses that will help SMEs advance their manufacturing capabilities and help position them to meet the transformative changes brought about by Manufacturing 4.0
Our FREE training in CNC Machining and Programming will SME employees to learn how to operate the latest CNC training equipment, including CNC lathes and mills -both operating Fanuc programming. Training will be bespoke, delivered at a range of levels, introducing new skills to employees who may be new to CNC machining or further developing the Manufacturing 4.0 skillset of your workforce.
Lecturer Robert Marshall, who will deliver the training, said:
“This is a great opportunity for small companies to support and train their existing staff. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to produce and deliver industrial training for some big organisations and it is tailored to their needs.
What we are doing here is developing individual employees and SMEs: we will be able to supplement their knowledge of CNC, from a beginner through to an expert level.
Recent participants of bespoke training have commented on how much they gained from the training and their interest in developing further knowledge and skills. For a lecturer, that is just great to hear; and from a company perspective, it means they are not as reliant on one or two employees for their CNC activity.”

“Recent national and local employer surveys have identified upskilling in CNC programming and machining as being of great value to businesses, in particular SMEs, as shortages in these skills within existing workforces is starting to adversely affect business performance and productivity.
We are delighted that, through securing investment from the ERDF Advanced Manufacturing Challenge Fund, we are able to address this critical skills gap and offer a suite of training to SMEs from across Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire.”
