The College win highlights and celebrates the work of our Digital Strategy Group which has helped almost 3000 students to work online digitally through device distribution as well as countless others supported through training, help desk support and additional resource made available to our community.

Angela Pignatelli, Assistant Principal for Creativity and Skills said:

We are thrilled to win this prestigious Herald Digital Transformation Award!
Our West College Scotland Digital Strategy Group is made up of over 50 volunteer support staff and teaching staff across our College so, on behalf of them, a heart - felt thank you for recognising all their hard work in supporting our students and staff through this difficult time.
West College Scotland operates across some of the most disadvantaged regions in Scotland so it was critical for us to address the digital poverty divide so that no one was left behind during the pandemic and beyond. We’ve delivered over 108 digital training sessions to staff, students, parents and guardians to ensure engagement and support as far as possible and we’ve provided over 5000 digital devices to students including wifis to enable connectivity. We’ll continue to work hard to support our students with what they need.”

Other shortlisted entries included Guide Dogs Scotland, the NHS Golden Jubilee, RNIB & eCom Scotland and the Scottish Centre for Personal Safety.

Next month, West College Scotland attends the College Development Network College Awards - with 5 shortlisted entries. The CDN Awards recognise the talent, innovation and achievement demonstrated by our colleges, their staff and their learners.
