The Tardis – strengthening the bridge between industry and education

For most, mention of The Tardis conjures up images of time travel and spacecraft. For our Construction students, it signifies opportunity, growth, innovation and learning.

The Tardis, in this case, is a test bay, designed to explore thermal principles and air tightness in construction. Generously gifted by our partners, The Tardis now sits proudly on our Paisley campus and will be a prominent feature in the lives of our Construction students.

We welcomed our partners from Balfour Beatty plc, Built Environment - Smarter Transformation, Kier Group and Morrison Construction to our Paisley campus in January to inform our students about The Tardis, and to showcase it to our staff, which aligns with our strategic themes, our people and our partnerships. Our Principal, Anne Campbell, was delighted to host our partners and to hear about the capabilities of The Tardis, describing it as

an excellent opportunity to strengthen the bridge between industry and education.

Our students agree and are looking forward to using The Tardis for future projects. We feel extremely privileged to be able to enhance their knowledge and skills with regards to modern, sustainable building requirements, and to provide real-life practical experience alongside their studies.

Thank you to our partners (Balfour Beatty plc, Built Environment - Smarter Transformation, Kier Group, Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, Morrison Construction and Robertson Group) for gifting us The Tardis, and for being a source of support, knowledge and inspiration to our students.
