Students Showcase Skills in Real-World Finance Challenge

Students currently undertaking a Foundation Apprenticeship in Accountancy at our Paisley Campus have been gaining valuable real-world experience through a collaborative project with River Clyde Homes in Greenock.

Our Accounting Foundation Apprenticeship includes two AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) units, a National Progression Award (NPA), and a work-based challenge. This challenge is designed to complement classroom learning while giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a practical setting.

River Clyde Homes, led by Finance Manager Yvonne Kerr, set this year’s work-based challenge. Working in teams, students carried out research and developed proposals, which they presented via PowerPoint at River Clyde Homes' offices. These presentations were delivered to representatives from both West College Scotland and River Clyde Homes, and were an opportunity for the students to develop their meta skills in areas such as communication, teamwork and problem solving.

Our students gained excellent feedback from their presentations and found the experience to be both valuable and fun.

We would like to thank River Clyde Homes for supporting this year's work-based challenge and providing students with valuable industry insight as they continue their studies.
