Our highly qualified lecturing team possess a wide range of extensive industry experience working with a broad and varied category of athletes, sporting activities, client groups and levels from professional to keen enthusiast.
Although our Sport and Fitness courses offer you an alternative to conventional classroom learning, we don’t just cover the physical side of things. You will also gain an extensive range of knowledge and understanding in a variety of disciplines, whilst promoting and enhancing personal skills such as planning, organisation and communication skills. We work closely with industry partners across all three of the campus regions promoting health, fitness and wellbeing, offering live sessions to our community groups. This can only enhance our students experience on their learning journey.
Graduates from our course have gone on to work in the Sport and Fitness industries for many leading organisations across the West of Scotland and beyond.
What will I learn?
HND in Sports Coaching and Development gives learners the knowledge and skills necessary to work as professionals within the sector. This HND includes an embedded, stand alone, industry-recognised Professional Development Award in Sports Coaching at SCQF Level 8 jointly certificated by SportScotland and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

What qualifications do I need?You'll need to have successfully completed HNC Coaching and Developing Sport with 15 credits, and have voluntary experience working in sports coaching. For a place on the course, you'll need to attend an interview – please bring along proof of your qualifications.
What can I do after?
After successfully completing this course you’ll have the skills needed to fulfil a role as a sports coach and sports development officer.
From HND you could progress onto a range of Degree level courses at Universities across Scotland and the UK (entry point at year one, two or three) in relevant subject areas such as Sport and Exercise Science, Sports Studies, Coaching and Developing Sports, Physical Education or Physical Activity and Health related studies..
