What will I learn?

This period in a person’s life is without doubt the most sensitive and difficult to deal with in regards to emotional and physical strain it can put on the person, family and carers.

Statistics show that only half of people who preferred to die at home actually died at home. Hospices are ranked the highest in terms of the quality of care they can provide at this difficult time. This was closely followed by Care Homes and Hospitals.

This course provides learners who are already working, or are intending to work in the healthcare sector with knowledge and understanding of end of life care.

Topics covered in this course include:

Understanding end of life care
Assessment and care planning in end of life care
Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care

This is a marked course which requires short essay style answers to allow your assigned marker to be able to identify that you have understood the skills and knowledge to meet the awarding body standards.

This is an online course with online learning materials and assessments, you will be emailed with a login to access the course.

What qualifications do I need?

Level 2 certificate in a related discipline. Before enrolling for this course proof of your level 2 certificate is required please email this to onlinelearning@wcs.ac.uk

As this course has an online element it would be beneficial if the candidate had basic competence in IT and the internet.

This course does not require a personal statement.

What can I do after?

This course provides progression to further Level 2/3 programmes. It is also a good starting point for those individuals who are interested in entering a career in the healthcare sector.

You could complete in 10 weeks or use the full 20 weeks- it's up to you.

Please be aware that you could be withdrawn from your course if submission dates are vastly overdue. If at any point you are struggling with deadlines you should contact us for an extension which we will assign where possible

On successful completion and confirmation from the awarding body you will receive your qualification e-certificate online which you can print and/or save for your records. Please note a fee may be required if a hard copy certificate is requested.
