What will I learn?

You’ll learn about:

  • Live Music Performance
  • Music Rehearsal Skills
  • Improving Instrumental Performance (including graded instrument tuition)
  • Structure of the Music Business
  • Music Theory

This course is designed for musicians who wish to improve and develop their instrumental technique and live performance skills. This is a vocational qualification, meaning that the entire course is based around you gaining real world experience, and all the skills that you develop on the course will match the requirements of being a musician in the music industry

You will be able to create your own curriculum to ensure you are working at whatever level you are at upon entry on your instrument and taking into account your previous experiences. This is achieved by working through the graded instrument curriculum set by world renowned awarding bodies RSL and Trinity. To support you with this, you will receive weekly expert tuition on your first study instrument in order to grow as a musician in terms of technical ability, genre versatility and performance.

What qualifications do I need?

There are no formal qualifications required to gain entry on to this course. It is expected that you are at least grade 3 level on your instrument. Instruments we support are Bass, Drums, Guitar, Keyboards and Vocals. If you are unsure of the grade level you may be at on your instrument, you are still more than welcome to apply, and this can be discussed as part of an informal chat at your interview.

What can I do after?

On completion of this course, students will have developed skills that could allow them to begin working as a musician at entry level. However, most graduates from this course continue on this course for another year, studying higher level modules and grades on their instrument. It is also possible to gain a place on HNC Music on completion of this course.
