Course overview

What will I learn?

Our Physical Activity, Sport and Fitness courses offer a wide variety of options whether it is your first step into a career in sport and fitness or further enhancing your current qualifications we will have the course option for you.

These include:

  • Sport and Fitness: Level 4
  • Advanced Sport and Fitness: Level 5
  • Access to HN Coaching and Fitness: Level 6

You will study a range of topics including:

  • Coaching of Sports
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Fitness Training Methods
  • Fitness Programming
  • Sports Mechanics
  • Sports Development

You will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice. Our students undertake work placements, volunteer within the local community, work with local schools and a range of support groups. As well as developing an excellent understanding and application of these topics, students will also develop essential softer skills including, communication, critical thinking, problems solving and self-reflection.

You will also enhance you own personal skills in the ability to be flexible and work with others as well as building resilience and taking responsibility for your own learning.

What qualifications do I need?

We have a range of courses at different levels our minimum entry requirements is successful completion of 18 week programme Entry to Sport and Fitness and/or 3 National Level 4 qualifications.

What can I do after?

Students who successfully complete their course will have the opportunity to progress onto a higher-level qualification and ultimately attain and University Degree. Studying Physical activity, Sport and Fitness also has the advantage of keeping your career options open with successful students moving into careers such as Sports Coach, Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Active School Development Officer and PE Teaching.
