Course overview

What will I learn?

You'll learn about:

  • SVQ Level 1 in Food Preparation and Cooking while working on the job
  • REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Health and safety
  • Allergy awareness
  • Cookery theory

What qualifications do I need?

No academic qualifications however some experience in hospitality or study of hospitality would be advantageous. An awareness of the importance of food hygiene as well as personal hygiene and a willingness to be flexible as days may change during the course to suit the needs of the workplace and to provide the student with a realistic experience.

Applicants must be 17 years of age and over

What can I do after?

After successfully completing the course you would be able to apply for employment as a commis chef in industry or a modern apprenticeship or you may find work with Elior.

Or you could develop your skills further by studying another course, such as:

  • NC Professional Cookery Level 5
  • NC Professional Cookery Level 6

Or continue to an advanced course at the stadium



Programme Information

Start Date: week beginning 11 September 2018 (but may change depending upon numbers)

End Date: week ending 22 December 2018 (but may change depending upon numbers)

Three days between Wednesday and Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm at Ibrox stadium and the possibility of one paid match day work if attendance and attitude is satisfactory

A total of 3 days per week which may be flexible to suit the needs of the workplace two will involve practical work and the third will cover the theory for the award
