Jean

After leaving school at 16 without formal qualifications, Jean explored various career paths while raising her three children. However, it was a pivotal moment in 1997, when Jean's mother passed away suddenly, that prompted her to reflect on her life's direction.

Enrolling as a mature student at West College Scotland in 1998, Jean initially pursued a career in nursing. However, her interest in Social Policy, Psychology, and Law during her studies led her to pursue Social Work. She completed a two-year HND course in Social Sciences at James Watt College, now West College Scotland, in 1999.

Jean's commitment to her newfound path continued with a BA (Hons) in Social Work from the University of the West of Scotland. Now celebrating her 20th year as a qualified Social Work practitioner, Jean works as an Adult Support & Protection Social Worker for East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Specialising in the care of the elderly and adult support & protection, Jean's dedication was recognized when she was awarded Social Worker of the Year 2023 at the Scottish Social Services Awards.
