Acrylic Tip and Overlay Nail Enhancements (Liquid and Powder System - SCQF Level 5)
What will I learn?
This course provides learners with the opportunity to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to perform professional acrylic tip and overlay nail enhancement services using a liquid and powder system.
Learners will develop competence in consultation, preparation, application, maintenance, infill and safe removal of acrylic nail enhancements.
The course is designed to build a strong foundation in nail enhancement techniques and provides a progression route into BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) and advanced gel enhancement services.
Course Aim:
To equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively apply, maintain and remove acrylic tip and overlay nail enhancements while working to professional industry standards.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe Nail Anatomy and Physiology Relevant to Nail Enhancement Services.
- Identify Contraindications and Contra-Actions that may affect Treatment.
- Conduct Effective Client Consultations and Complete Treatment Records.
- Prepare the Natural Nail for Enhancement Services.
- Apply Tips and Acrylic Overlays using a Liquid and Powder System.
- Perform Maintenance and Infill Services.
- Safely Remove Acrylic Nail Enhancements.
- Provide Appropriate Aftercare Advice to Clients.
- Work In Accordance with Health, Safety and Hygiene Requirements.

Assessment:
Learners will be assessed through:
- Practical Observation of Acrylic Application.
- Completion of Service Documentation.
- Open and Closed Book Written Assessments.
What qualifications do I need?
No formal qualifications are required; however, an interest in the nail industry and professional salon standards is recommended.
Products and tools required for the course will be provided for use during class sessions. There is no requirement to purchase your own equipment. However, if you would like to continue practising outside of class, we can recommend suppliers and assist you in sourcing your own products and tools.
For health and safety reasons candidates must be 16 years old at the time of enrolling.
What can I do after?
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a certificate in Tip and Overlay Nail Enhancements (Liquid and Powder System). This qualification provides a strong foundation for progression to BIAB and other advanced nail enhancement technologies.
