Studying HNC Politics at our Greenock campus not only provides students with a well-rounded knowledge of the subject, but also allows them to network with significant political figures. A recent visit by Martin McCluskey, Labour MP for Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West, allowed our students from HNC Politics and other courses to learn more about the work of an MP and to participate in a Q&A with Martin.

Students from our HNC Social Science, Access to Nursing and Police Services courses attended, and they revelled in the opportunity to ask important questions about local, national and international issues. Students brought up issues relating to jobs and regeneration in Inverclyde, the provision of health care services locally, as well as broader issues about housing, education and government spending.

Social Science Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer, Richard Tullett, said of the visit:

"Having guest speakers come to the college is a fantastic way for students to ask questions and debate issues which are important to them.  I am very grateful to Martin McCluskey for taking the time to come to our Waterfront Campus and engage with our students in this way.  It's a great way for students to develop their communication skills and also helps to build their confidence levels.”
