The team was split across two of the event’s walking challenges, with 9 staff members completing The Mighty Stride and 16 joining The Big Stroll. This marks the second year in a row the College has chosen to support the Beatson, in heartfelt memory of much-missed colleagues Juliane Neilson, who sadly passed away earlier this year, and Lorraine Adair and Jim Lawson, who both passed last year.
The Beatson provides essential care and support to cancer patients and their families across Scotland, and the College team were proud to walk in tribute to their colleagues while supporting such a vital service.
Vicky O’Donnell, Wellbeing and Inclusion Advisor and organiser of the College’s Kiltwalk involvement each year, said, “As a College, taking part in the Kiltwalk has become a key date in our staff wellbeing calendar – in the four years since we started, we’ve had many returning walkers and new faces joining in the fun.
It’s a fantastic way for colleagues from across the College to come together, put faces to names, and connect with others from different departments and campuses.
‘Feeling connected is such an important part of wellbeing at work, and the Kiltwalk really supports that. The encouragement the team shows each other before, during, and after the walk is always amazing.
Having a team of walkers representing West College Scotland highlights the generosity of our colleagues and their supporters, and the College’s role in giving back to our community by supporting life-changing organisations and charities.
‘There’s always a buzz about the day, but this year was extra special as The Big Stroll set off from our very own Clydebank campus – even the rain couldn’t dampen the mood!"
Further donations are still coming in, and the College is grateful for the support shown so far.
