Creative Connections presents Graded Live was held on Tuesday 13 May at Braehead Centre, the catwalk show provided the audience with a line up of stunning makeup looks inspired by leading fashion and beauty brands. The event marked the culmination of months of hard work, innovation and artistic development.
In addition to the HNC showcase, the event also featured impressive work from our HND Makeup Artistry 2nd Year students from the Paisley campus. Their looks demonstrated advanced techniques and industry-level creativity.
Throughout the day, audiences were also treated to an exciting range of film, theatre and special effects looks created by our Level 6 students from both Clydebank and Paisley campuses. Their work highlighted the versatility and broad skillset being developed across all levels of the course.
Wendy Sheridan-Price, Head of Sector: Health, Wellbeing and Care, commended the students’ dedication and success:
“It was truly inspiring to see the breadth of talent on display. From high fashion to theatrical special effects, our students have shown exactly what can be achieved through passion, creativity and commitment. Their professionalism and flair were outstanding—I have no doubt they have exciting futures ahead in the makeup industry.”
Each of the HNC students brought their unique vision and artistry to life through their final Graded Unit creations.
Nicole McCallum, 30 from Linwood, chose the theme: Pretty in Pink Power. Wearing a pink dress and crown, Nicole’s look was inspired by iconic makeup artist Pat McGrath. She said, “I picked 'Pretty in Pink Power' because Pat McGrath rocks pink in a way that's all about strength and creativity. She takes something that seems delicate and makes it a statement.”
Dressing her model as a gothic bride, Christina Lafferty, 39 from Renfrew chose an alternative look featuring purple eye details and accessories. Inspired by Jolie Beauty, Christina’s concept showcased an edgy twist on bridal elegance. She commented, “Jolie Beauty is an online brand focusing on the alternative market, and I wanted to capture that bold, dark aesthetic with a romantic touch.”
Kimberley Fisher was inspired by Thierry Mugler – Angel. With a white cape and glamorous styling, Kimberley’s look paid tribute to the bold, unforgettable scent of Thierry Mugler’s Angel perfume. Explaining her look Kimberley, 32 from Paisley said “The perfume has a strong, glamorous energy, and I aimed to reflect that in a striking and elegant look.”
Gold Rush was the chosen theme for Jessica Prentice, 18 from Glasgow. Featuring gold leaf and a gold skirt, Jessica’s design was influenced by The Beauty Crop’s Coco Gold Primer. Jessica said, “I wanted to bring the radiance and richness of gold to life with a dewy, glowing finish.”
Aris Quinn, 24 from Glasgow shared the inspiration for the look saying, “This is all about empowerment. No matter what you look like or do—feel empowered in yourself.” Dressed in a leather jacket, this look represented confidence and self-expression.
Finally, Rosie Hutchinson took her inspiration from Dolce & Gabbana Florals. In a black jacket adorned with floral accents, Rosie’s look was inspired by the bold, vibrant aesthetic of Dolce & Gabbana. Rosie, 34 from Renfrew said, “Their bright, statement florals gave me the perfect inspiration to create something both classy and impactful.”
The event was a vibrant celebration of creativity and achievement, taking our students from the classroom to the catwalk—and beyond.
