West College Scotland was delighted to welcome Audrey Kinghorn a retired Travel and Tourism lecturer from the former Glasgow Metropolitan College into the Clydebank campus last week.

Speaking to Lecturer Craig Anderson about the donations, he said, “Audrey was my lecturer many years ago and when she seen a recent post on social media with me and our travel and tourism students who completed their cabin crew unit, she got in touch about donating materials.”

Armed with her treasured collection from decades in the industry, Audrey kindly donated an array of items including demonstration seatbelts, oxygen masks, life jackets, safety cards, manuals, smoke hoods and a Britannia aircraft trolley.

Craig continued,

Audrey has passed on her knowledge and experience to me, when she taught me and now, she is handing me her legacy so I can train and teach the next candidates cabin crew trainees, Aviation story for the books.

Audrey commented,  "Content to hang up my wings after a career spanning five decades (flying, training, managing, lecturing) I am delighted to donate this treasured collection of airline artefacts to West College Scotland, Clydebank campus, confident in the knowledge that my ex-student, Craig Anderson, and the rest of the teaching team will put it to very good use to inspire and prepare the next generation of Airline Cabin Crew.

‘t’s the best job in the world!”

These items will aid the learning experience of our students allowing them to gain real life practical experience, better equipping them for industry.

Huge thank you to Audrey.
