The College was allocated funding from the Ufi Charitable Trust to develop a ‘Homecare in your Pocket’ app . This 'HIP' app was to provide bitesize, on-the-go training for homecare workers, and aimed to make high quality professional learning available to the dispersed home-care workforce. Our Graphic students were tasked to design the graphics for this new mobile app and pitch their efforts to a panel of judges.
The students gained a valuable insight into how important the design of the graphics for a mobile app are - especially within the health care sector.

1ST-PLACE - SOPHIE WESTWOOD from Paisley
We were given the opportunity to develop the graphic design for an app and to my surprise my design was chosen! Winning first prize of £200 was amazing. On the exhibition night I had an amazing time with lots of family coming to support me. This really meant a lot to me! I have came so far during this course and I feel it has shaped me to be the best version of myself. It has also taught me many essential skills such as patience and how to behave in professional environments. The logo design had such a strong rooted meaning which represented strength and stability. I found this to be appropriate because of the many challenges that home-care workers face.
2nd Place- JOHN MCEWAN from Paisley
Coming in 2nd place for the Healthcare in my Pocket app and winning a cash prize of £100 was one of the highlights of my year. It was a great competition with my peers and thanks to the Healthcare in my Pocket Team for the opportunity to work on the project and learn more about Home-care and the struggles involved in this profession. This was great for me to work on as I have family members whom need constant care also so to win a place in this competition was personally gratifying for me.
3RD-PLACE -YVONNE MCLEOD from Bridge of Weir
I’m overjoyed to have been awarded 3rd place for the hip project as I struggled with the work at first but felt it really pulled the design together well, to have some recognition for it made it all the more worthwhile and I’m proud to have achieved something out of it.”
