2016-17 was another great year of accomplishments for our Greenock Campus Painting & Decorating department, with students working hard to develop strong skills and take steps towards a career into Construction. As the Academic year comes to an end, the department held a ceremony to award their most deserving apprentices and students.

Andrew Thompson, apprentice at Mactaggart & Mickel, was named 2nd year apprentice of the year. Andrew Neeson, Construction Curriculum Enhancement Lecturer, says:

We’re very proud of Andrew who has been a student with us all the way from the entry-level NPA course to now being in second year apprenticeship and working for an award-winning home building company. He’s a hard worker and has got the talent to pursue a great career in Construction

Craig Duncan, apprentice at R&J contractors, was named 1st year apprentice of the year.

Thomas Moodie was named NPA Painting & Decorating student of the year. It’s a well-deserved recognition for Thomas, as Andrew Neeson points out:

Thomas joined the College as a Learner Development student and got really enthused by Painting & Decorating after doing a taster session with us. He soon embarked on our NPA course. Thomas is a keen student and, thanks to his hard work, he successfully completed the course, gaining the required trade and employability skills. Thomas has now secured employment at Blairs Windows and we’re delighted for him.

Well done to all!
