Rolling into town for their two night sell-out gig at Glasgow’s legendary Barrowland, the famous trio put on a showstopping performance.

Joined by three of their lecturers the HND Television students from the Colleges Greenock campus were there to capture the party in full swing, including interviews from die-hard fans.

Design and Media Technician, David Donaldson from the College commented, “We were honoured to have been approached by BCR to film the event. We had six cameras in total, filming over the two nights. During the rehearsals the students got the opportunity to practice and prepare for the night ahead. The footage was then edited together for STV and DVD/BluRay which is being released later this year.”

When speaking to the students about their experience their sense of pride and gratification was evident, branding it an ‘amazing, surreal opportunity’.

Twenty-four year old Kyle McCaig said, “Seeing the Bay City Rollers footage that I helped shoot and seeing my name in the credits on the TV was such an amazing experience.

‘The fact that I had only been on the course for four months and here I was filming a concert for two nights was almost unbelievable and I'm really grateful that the college gave me this amazing opportunity.

‘Seeing the footage on TV and showing my friends and family was such a surreal and proud moment.”

Describing it as one of the ‘best moments of his life’, twenty-two year old Andrew Higgins commented, “It’s all thanks to the College that I had this opportunity.

It’s really reinforced the reasons why I want to work in this industry.

Commenting on the students’ performance, David said, “The students were selected based on their skills and enthusiasm for the project and they certainly lived up to the expectation.

‘As a department we strongly encourage students to be proactive in gaining work experience and believe that these experiences are invaluable to their learning. The knowledge and skills the students have gained from this particular project, working closely with a large band, will be instrumental to their future career in film and television and we are extremely proud of what they have achieved.
