As a Swissport Academy, West College Scotland offers short courses on Airport Services & Ground Operations.  The course concludes with a recruitment day, where Swissport employees visit the college to share with students the excellent career opportunities available. Following a presentation and activities, students are interviewed for possible roles in the company.

The most recent recruitment day was held this February, and Swissport trainer Alison Logan has seen first-hand the benefits the course can bring.

“The course at West College Scotland is a huge help when commencing employment with us. Students gain prior knowledge of what is expected of their role and a sound knowledge of the day-to-day functions.”

Swissport employ over 60,000 people worldwide in hundreds of different roles, and recruit as many as 40-50 staff each summer, for passenger services and dispatch roles at Glasgow Airport. It’s as part of this that Swissport have offered four students positions in the company.

Beverley Hardie is lecturer on the course, and is delighted with the success of her students.

“This particular short course offers a direct link to employment with Swissport at Glasgow Airport and many students have gained employment over the past few years. We hope to continue this success, and aim to grow our portfolio of courses to continue to provide a strong pool of instantly employable candidates to the Academy.”
