Course Overview

Content

This CPD programme includes four different courses. Each can be taken individually and will guide you through easy-to-implement activities specifically designed for younger children. The playful projects you’ll learn to deliver will enable you to trigger the children’s passion for science and get them excited about professions in STEM fields. The four courses are focused on the following projects: "When I grow up, I want to be...

  • …a dentist" – activities: sugary drinks, shapes of teeth, teeth brushing
  • …a doctor" – activities: parts of the body, seeing inside the body, ‘Operation’ game
  • …a forensic scientist" – activities: ‘Who am I?’ game, shoeprints and fingerprints
  • …a weather person" – activities: measuring wind, sun and rainfall

Outcome

All activities are designed to allow children to engage with the Experiences and Outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence Framework. At the end of each course, you will receive a pack including suggested lesson plans and relevant resources to enable delivery of the project at your place of work.
