Securing a job in translation for a video games company where he worked for a couple of years, his passion lay in working with children which led to him to studying Childhood Practice at the College.

Speaking to Francisco he said, “I have always loved working with children, hence why I chose a primary education degree before. I realised along the way that I actually prefer working with younger kids and gravitated towards the Childhood Practice course.

‘Studying in a second language is tough especially the writing to an academic standard but the tutors are a great support.

‘The course has helped me gain great confidence in myself.

The tutors are very supportive – much more than in Spain and really want you to succeed.

'They always make me feel like I’m doing a good job which feels amazing, especially as I’ve put my heart and soul into it.

‘It’s been a challenge at times with juggling part-time work and other outside commitments but as I near the end of the course I’m beginning to see it pay off and realise how worthwhile it will be in the end.”

Carrying out placement at a nursery in Hyndland, Francisco was delighted to learn that an opening had come up and applied for the position.

Francisco continues, “I was lucky enough to be placed in a great nursery. The children were so funny and I loved working there so I was delighted when a position came up and even happier that I got offered the job.

I’m very happy that I chose to change from teaching to working with younger children. The College has been a road to my future and I’m looking forward to it.
