From studying Sports Coaching at West College Scotland’s Clydebank campus to preparing to coach swimming in Australia, Erin, Alan and Connor have had quite the year. As if packing and trying to catch up with everyone before they go isn’t enough, the three students took some time out to talk to us about their studies and their upcoming trip.

While undertaking their Level 5 in Sports Coaching, Erin, Alan and Connor were presented with the opportunity to join BlueFit, a leisure facility management company based in Sydney. This is all down to their Curriculum and Quality Leader’s relationship with Todd McHardy, the Managing Director of BlueFit. Todd’s plan is simple – to allow youngster’s the chance to work in his facilities, build their knowledge and skills, and experience life in Australia.

After completing an interview back in March, Erin, Alan and Connor were excited to hear they had been selected, along with others from all over the UK, to take part in the programme. With flights and accommodation provided, and a Whatsapp group set up to introduce them to the other participants, all three are excited about the opportunity that lies ahead.

Flying out in a matter of days, Erin, Alan and Connor will spend 10 months at BlueFit, over 10,500 miles from their homes in Glasgow. With all three students wanting to get into the industry due to their love of fitness, it is clear to see that Erin, Alan and Connor have landed on their feet with this opportunity, and there is no doubt that they will make the most of every moment of it.

The team at West College Scotland wishes them the best of luck. Watch this space for updates as the trio adapt to life Down Under…
