Learn, enjoy, achieve
– some of the many things students do while at college. But there is more to studying than these three things. In a job market which can, at times, be saturated, it is important for graduates to have strong links with employers. Caroline Joyce is living proof of this, as she has gained employment through West College Scotland’s employer relationships.
Having graduated from our Travel and Tourism course, Caroline is now working at Stewart Travel thanks to her dedication and hard work but, just as importantly, thanks to the relationship between Stewart Travel and the team at West College Scotland.
Caroline was recommended to Linda Harvey, Manager at Stewart Travel, by her lecturer from West College Scotland. Having to compete against other candidates didn’t faze Caroline, and she grabbed the chance to interview for the apprentice position. Caroline believes that her time at West College Scotland was invaluable and was an instrumental part of her recruitment at Stewart Travel:
“My experience at the college was fantastic and I loved every moment being there”.
Speaking of her West College Scotland recruit, Linda says
“I love her confidence. It is hard to face customers at first when you know they know more than you do, but Caroline handles it with grace.”
With Caroline flourishing at Stewart Travel, and with her having a clear idea of her future path, the world is undoubtedly at Caroline’s feet. The staff at West College Scotland would like to thank Linda and her team for providing this amazing opportunity and for their continued support. And, according to Linda, the feeling is mutual:
“I would have no hesitation contacting West College Scotland when we have further positions within the company as they match the individuals to our business need so well.”
