Course content

The NHS spends more than £13 billion on medicines, and experts believe that as much as 50% of medicines prescribed, dispensed or sold are done so inappropriately every single year. Furthermore, once they have acquired medicines, half of all patients in the UK fail to take those medicines correctly.

These scenarios can often result in disastrous consequences, especially when medicine ends up in the wrong hands, whether that is in a hospital or on the street. By completing this course you will develop and improve your knowledge and skills in good health and social care – skills which could help reduce these statistics.

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Understand medication and prescriptions
  • Supply, storage and disposal of medication
  • Understand the requirements for the safe administration of medication
  • Record keeping and audit processes for medication

This is a marked course which requires short essay style answers to allow your assigned marker to be able to identify that you have understood the skills and knowledge to meet the awarding body standards.

This is an online course with online learning materials and assessments, you will be emailed with a login to access the course.
