What will I learn?

This course will provide you with a strong knowledge and understanding of challenging behaviour in children. The course will allow you to develop skills to identify avoidance techniques, how to access children’s behaviours and methods to minimise the effects of behaviours that challenge.

The course covers how different conditions such as learning disabilities, mental health, sensory issues and autism can impact on behaviour and how to support those children who experience complex behaviours.

This course is ideal for childcare, health & social care and education workers. It is also a good tool for parents/guardians and anyone who may have an interest in learning more about this subject area.

Some topics covered in this course are:

  • Awareness of behaviour that challenges in children
  • Principles of intervention when working with behaviour that challenges in children and young people
  • Behaviour that challenges and mental health in children
  • Behaviour that challenges and learning disabilities
  • Behaviour that challenges, sensory issues and autism
  • Legislation supporting behaviour that challenges in children

This is a marked course which requires short essay style answers to allow your assigned marker to be able to identify that you have understood the skills and knowledge to meet the awarding body standards. The awarding body for this course is TQUK.

What qualifications do I need?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, as it is delivered part online it would be beneficial if the candidate had basic competence in IT and the internet.

This course does not require a personal statement.

What can I do after?

This course provides progression to further Level 2 programmes. It is also a good starting point for those individuals who are interested in entering a career in childcare or health and social care areas.

Please be aware that you could be withdrawn from your course if submission dates are vastly overdue. If at any point you are struggling with deadlines you should contact us for an extension which we will assign where possible.

On successful completion and confirmation from the awarding body you will receive your qualification e-certificate online which you can print and/or save for your records. Please note a fee may be required if a hard copy certificate is requested.
