What will I learn?

This course will help you to prepare for the SQA Higher English exam.

The Higher English Course includes the study of plays, poetry, short stories and novels as well as the writing of personal, discursive and critical essays. The course also develops your listening and talking skills.

It’s suitable for those leaving school and needing additional qualifications or higher grades possibly for entry to higher education programmes, those planning a return to study or a change of career, or simply for anyone wanting to pursue their interest in literature and language.

As this is an online course, you are advised that you will need a device with word processing capability and a good internet connection. The College can be in a position to provide a loan of digital equipment if required..

What qualifications do I need?

A pass at English National 5 or equivalent.

We very much welcome applications based on other appropriate qualifications eg HNC/D, or other life and work experience.

What can I do after?

Students who are successful on this programme may be able to progress to: HNC/HND, University or Postgraduate Courses such as Teaching Training.
