Overview

What will I learn?

Communication 4 and Literature 1 appropriate for students who need to interpret, analyse, and convey complex written and oral information. It combines two SQA units - Communication 4 (FA1W 12) and Literature 1 (FA58 12). Together, these two units are accepted by some colleges and universities, as an equivalent qualification to Higher English.

The course is taught as an online evening class, with candidates fully immersed in interactive learning activities every week. It is designed to ensure that you have the correct mindset and skillset, to communicate more effectively, whilst strengthening your critical thinking and problem-solving ability. Overall, you will develop your written and oral skills, for a wide range of vocational contexts, whilst applying a holistic approach to your learning.

What qualifications do I need?

Candidates would be expected to have achieved one of the following English, Communications, National Literacy at (SCQF Level 5) or completed a Creative Writing course. A written piece of work may be required for those candidates who have not achieved any of the entry requirements. Entry will be at the discretion of the college.

What can I do after?

Students who are successful on this programme will be able to progress to: Higher English and the potential to progress to a HNC/HND course; or university.
