What will I learn?

Every year 1 in 10 patients develop a healthcare associated infection. In most cases these infections are difficult to treat and can complicate existing illnesses.

This course can strengthen awareness of how to tackle the outbreak of infection by developing your understanding of the many causes of infections, how they spread and how you can help to control this.

Topics covered in this course include:

  • The causes and spread of infection in health care settings
  •  The importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings

This is a marked course which requires short essay style answers to allow your assigned marker to be able to identify that you have understood the skills and knowledge to meet the awarding body standards. 

For this course you will receive online learning materials. The Assessments for the course are based online and access will be given to complete them.

What qualifications do I need?

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, as it is part online it would be beneficial if the candidate had basic competence in IT and the internet.

This course does not require a personal statement.

What can I do after?

This course provides progression to further Level 2 programmes.  It is also a good starting point for those individuals who are interested in entering a career in the healthcare sector.

No of Weeks – 20

You could complete in 10 weeks or use the full 20 weeks- it's up to you.

Please be aware that you could be withdrawn from your course if submission dates are vastly overdue. If at any point you are struggling with deadlines you should contact us for an extension which we will assign where possible.

On successful completion and confirmation from the awarding body you will receive your qualification e-certificate online which you can print and/or save for your records. Please note a fee may be required if a hard copy certificate is requested.
